Do you like scrapbooking with the Cricut? I do, but I used to avoid it because it would take me forever to put together layouts. Anyway, I want to show you a layout I made in just half an hour's time (which is quick for me). However, first, let me tell you a little bit about it...
The reason I was able to throw it together so quickly was because of the the sketch I used. The sketch was a simple layout using 4x6 photos. It also included a listing of the sizes I needed to cut the page elements. I knew exactly what size to cut the paper for the background, as well as the strips of patterned accent paper, and the block used for the title and journaling. There was absolutely no guesswork!
I like to use sketches when I scrapbook, but I find many times they frustrate me more than help - that's because many of the ones I have downloaded or purchased require me to crop my photos. I don't like to print my photos at home (I always get them done at the store), which means I have stacks of 4x6 photos sitting around. When I have a sketch sitting in front of me with strange photo sizes, I always try to improvise so that I don't have to cut my photos down. I also spend a lot of time trying to decide what size to cut all the accents for the page.
Out of frustration, I recently started making my own sketches. My sketches first started out with a stack of plain paper, a pencil, and a ruler, but now I am making them using an Adobe program I have on my computer. I measure out everything, and instead of using odd photo sizes, focus my “sketches” on standard 4x6 photographs.

I have made more, but my point is, these really do go together quickly and easily!

Oh, one more thing...I forgot to tell you which Cricut cartridges I used for the two layouts above. The "Oh My He's Five" layout used the Birthday Bash cartridge for the shark holding the number five, and the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge for the stars. The "Let It Snow" layout used the (now retired) Cricut Christmas Noel cartridge for the white snowflakes and Doodlecharms for the smaller blue snowflakes.
