I need to get back on track – I actually haven’t completed my layouts in time for the last couple of weeks (too many other things demanding my attention!). That’s the great thing about it – no one cares if you do it on time. However, if you don’t get sidetracked as easily as I do, it really keeps you on track, as well as provides ideas!

Ladies I use the SCAL (sure cuts a lot) program and I can flip things to have them cut off my cricut and fabric too I put the fabric side down and have the wonder under on top and does alot better but you have to use the blue painters tape put ur blade on 6 your speed on slow for it to work but this program is alot better then the cricut software and you do not have to use a cartiage

Hi Jenn,

I’m sure the prices will come down after they have been out for awhile – they always do. It is retailing for the same price as the regular Cricut Expression, and it’s easy to find those for around $250 (give or take).

Now, I just need to stop watching TLC. I’m getting hooked on the Cake Boss show, and even though I thought I would be able to pass on this (I’m more of a paper crafter than a baker), every time I watch that show, I’m getting more excited about this machine!

If I were you I wouldn’t be using construction paper on your mats. You will lose the stickyness on the mat, besides it makes your mats all FUZZY. The best thing to use is cardstock! It goes on easy and comes off really easy.

My husband bought me a cricut 2 years ago, then I got the cricut expression. I gave the regular cricut to my daughter in law. Both of us really enjoy the projects.
If anybody needs how to use the speed tension , also how to use different cartridge setups go to utube vidios. It is very informative. It tells alot of information!.

You can cut construction paper on your cricut you need to slow down the speed a bit. I work at a school and used my cricut to cut out #’s for math night out of construction paper with the speed 2-3, old mat (not real sticky), fairly new blade. The thing is the construction paper is a very dusty/fiber material and will make your mat not tacky at all after about 10 or so numbers. But I just cleaned the mat off with goo gone and respray lightly with Krylon Easy-Tack Repositionable Adhesive (just a light coat). Mat works like new.

For those who have tried it, with the fabric. How does it work if you want to cut out alphabet letters? if your putting the paper of the adhesive up are the letters being cut backwards? I’m picking up my Cricut this afternoon, most of my use for it will be for fabric, especialy letters. I’m new with this and haven’t yet tasted this mechine, Someone told me that it works well with the havy duty wonderunder adhesive double side. can be found in Joanns fabric store SKU# 02467058.
Can someone answer my questions, and i hope that this infor. helps.

Hi Lynda,

To be honest, I have not tried construction paper with my Cricut. I have not tried it because I was afraid it would leave paper “crumbs” on my cutting mat – I have had that problem with some cheaper card stock that I bought. If it’s tearing, the only thing I can think to do would be to lessen the blade pressure.

i gave it a tried it and it was fun. We made a 100th day of Kinder shirt for my daughter using My Community cartridge. It had a lot of the little symbols used in school, like lunch time, listening, story time, and recess. Also pencils, crayons and a school bus.

I found this awsome site. http://www.papercraftingpro.com they have the best prices for feeding my cricut addiction. Some of the cartridges (full cartridges) are 23.00! the most expensive are in the 32.00 range. they have other supplies as well, like the mats and blades. you can get inexpensive vinyl at http://www.ohmycrafts.com. i have done my share of comparing.

According to the Cricut Rewards FAQ, you should be able to still enter the carts into the rewards system. Here are their instructions:

I purchased an eligible cartridge but it did not have a Cricut Reward certificate inside. How do I obtain my Cricut Rewards for this cartridge?

If you do not have Cricut Reward certificates for an eligible cartridge purchased in 2008 or later, please go to http://www.cricutrewards.com. Click on the link on the left navigation bar that reads “Redeem Cricut Rewards”. You will have to create an account or login to your account. Please note that any accounts/logins/passwords from http://www.cricut.com will NOT work on the Cricut Rewards site.

Once you are logged in to your account, you will find a link toward the top of the page that reads “Redeem Cricut Rewards”. Click on that link and a pop-up window will appear. Then click on the link that reads “Click here for a sample certificate” and you will find directions on how to make a Cricut Reward certificate request for any you may be missing.

Once you begin that process, if you are unable to provide the required information to process your request, you will need to contact rewards@cricut.com by email or by phone (toll free) 877-7CRICUT (274288).

I have purchased 32 cartridges since Christmas and only 12 have rewards. Is there a reason all of the programs did not have a certificate?

8 should have had 100 rewards each
7 should have had 90 rewards each
3 should have had 50rewards each

Here’s an update…

Well, the “big” reveal was supposed to be today, but unfortunately, I think we will still have to wait another week, until the Craft and Hobby Association Show, to get the real scoop. Sizzix did update their site today, to show a better picture of the Eclips. However, it doesn’t really provide any additional information, other than that the machine is a “remote controlled shape-cutter”.

Meg from the Cricut Message Board did call Sizzix to try to find out more information. Here’s an excerpt from her post…

“I had a nice long chat with a great CS agent at Sizzix. She said I wasn’t the only person calling for more info. Nice to know I’m not the only nutty papercrafter.

Anyway, the pic on the Sizzix reveal page may very well be it until CHA. However, we should still check it and see if anything is added/changed until then.

Sizzix will be posting videos during CHA both on the Sizzix site and their Facebook page. The FB page will be kept up-to-date with lots of activity during CHA.”

I wish I had more to share, but that’s all I have so far. I will post again if I find out anything more…

Hi…I’m new to Cricut too…got it as a Christmas present (lucky me!). But I have learned Cricut does more than cut. You can by Chalk to replace the cutter with, and your image will be drawn instead of cut onto the paper. FYI

I love Very Merry Tags! My family spoiled me this Christmas with a Cricut Create which they allowed me to use to decorate gifts for the staff at the kids’ school! I created tags, which I thought turned out just fabulous (matching in color, theme and scale) and I had a blast doing it! Who can say that about small gifts for about 15 people that took days to create?

I have alot of diecut machines, Cricut Expression, Wishblade, Slice, and the Cuttlebug. Each and everyone has it’s own use and I love each one. I love the fact that I can still use my old dies and new spellbinders dies in the cuttlebug. I love the fact that I can download or create my own design and cut it out on the wishblade(computer always required to use this one though). I love the cricut because you can do so many things with it and the cartridges offer you loads of options as well as the computer program for it so that you can now design your own things from various cartridges. I also love the Slice because it is small & portable, it does require cartridges but on ebay they make them really inexpensive. Also here are a few tips that might help as far as the mat I don’t use glue I use stenciling tape and tape the edges of the paper to the glass mat and it seems to work just fine for me and no messy glue to deal with. As far as having to hold the machine while it’s cutting I just put a somewhat heavy book on it and let it cut while I’m doing something else. The advantage to not glue the paper down is that it you want to pull the diecut out and continue cutting on the same sheet(I have the 12×12 glass) you can so I like having this option as well. I was going to make December’s calendar and instead of the round circles it shows on the back of the box I was going to do the round tags like November’s example and use metal hooks to hang them on the tree like ornaments!
